I have several boards that work in a cascade, and in the Roadmap view, grouping by the “lookup” attribute does not work correctly.
While this same principle works in Kanban view.

If I understand correctly, you should have a “Project” board where you define the name and the key issues.
As well as a “Phasing” board, with a relation to the Project board (Project ID) and the project name and key issues in lookup.
Indeed, in the Kanban view, there’s no problem directly using lookups as grouping.
The roadmap’s operation is a bit different for selecting groupings. Indeed, we will group by the relation attribute (Project ID in my case). Here, no need for a prior lookup; we will directly fetch the attributes of the board you are related to.
In Kanban, we use “Key Issues Lookup” and “Project Lookup” which are the Lookup type attributes of the Phasing board.
In the roadmap, we use “Key Issues” and “Project” which are the “original” attributes of the Project board that we retrieve via the relation.
I hope my explanation is clear 
Regarding the color of the key issues in the planning and Gantt view, I have no problem on my side.
